The bourree in its very different forms has for many years become one of the most popular dances of all, also in the German bal-folk scene.<\/p>\n
The French bourree originates from folk traditions of Auvergne, Berry, Limousin, Bourbonnais and Morvan. However, the dance forms that can be observed in these regions today, and the way they are danced, no longer have much to do with the original traditions.<\/p>\n
Today’s dance practice is a revival of the bourree with changes shaped by the teaching of a wide variety of dance leaders. The dance descriptions are based on contemporary practice and are an interpretation of traditional repertoire rather than a strict documentation of the bourre styles of past centuries.<\/p>\n
To dance the Bourree choreographies presented in the book, the CD from our new series Dance Repertoire Bourr\u00e9e Bourr\u00e9e Bourr\u00e9e with recordings of the dances in a well danceable form is included with the book.<\/p>\n
