Die Melodien sind auf Bordun- und vielerlei anderen Instrumenten spielbar. Eine Vielzahl der Melodien in Band I & II wurde bei Musikantentreffen in Deutschland und dem benachbarten Ausland gesammelt.

Der erste Band enthält 122 Paartänze, die aus dem 18. - 20. Jahrhundert stammen. Sie sind sortiert nach Tanzarten, überwiegend einstimmig notiert und meist in der Tonart 'C'.

This three-volume collection compiled and illustrated by Martina Sirtl is a follow-up to the successful “Schnurrpfeiffereyen” series.

It contains dance tunes from the 13th to the 20th centuries, which can be played on a variety of instruments with or without drones.

Volume 1 contains 122 partnered dances from the 18th to 20th centuries: schottisch, polka, bourrée, waltz, mazurka, round dances, minuet, or march. They are sorted by dance type, usually written in a single part and mostly in C major.

A large number of the tunes in volumes I and II was collected at musicians’ gatherings in Germany and its neighbouring countries. Before our publication, many of the dance tunes in these volumes were hardly available in print in Germany.
