Bagpipes – also called bagpipes – have a long tradition throughout Europe! In Germany, too, the bagpipe was and is known for many centuries, and today it is known again everywhere.
Our company was founded in 1984 and since then we have been intensively engaged in bagpipes, gemshorns and other historical (wind) instruments. Our offer includes instruments and accessories from different countries and musical eras: from our own production or from professional partners from all over the world.
We have been manufacturing and selling Hümmelchen and Dudey bagpipes since 1985. These quiet-sounding instruments were reconstructed by us according to historical descriptions and, due to their tuning and low volume, are ideal for playing with (recorder) flutes, plucked and stringed instruments, crumhorns, cornamuses, but also with harpsichords, portatives and many other historical and modern musical instruments.
Despite its range of only one ninth, it has a wide repertoire of melodies from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque, traditional dance tunes and folk songs. Our inexpensive school models with one or two drone pipes, which are designed for simple operation and reliable function, are particularly suitable for beginners. Our Hümmelchen and Dudey models are made from local woods and use reliable and durable plastic chanter and drone reeds.
At the end of 2014, we will succeed the previously independent Verlag der Spielleute and distribute its products.
In the publishing house of minstrels, we have published numerous books and recordings from the field of drone music in over 30 years of activity. We continue to offer significant titles from the publisher’s catalog in a separate webshop (www.spielleute.de).
You can visit us by appointment to look at books and instruments, try them out for yourself or have them played for you. At regular courses you can acquire the necessary basic knowledge – in the taster courses also with a rental instrument.
Of course, you can also pick up your book or accessory order or your new instrument yourself. You will receive important information for handling and care.
Bagpipes are delivered on request in ready-to-play condition with a short instruction and fingering chart and are carefully checked in quality in every respect. This way you have the security of purchasing a really good and playable instrument. For maintenance and repairs, you have an experienced professional at your side. Because of course we take care and repair our instruments even after the sale and the expiration of the warranty if this is still technically possible!
