Description
The drone music lives! With this volume, a collection of newly composed tunes for hurdy-gurdy and bagpipes appeared for the first time. The great popularity of drone instruments has brought forth new compositions everywhere that are truly worth listening to and playing.
The pieces collected in the first volume sound very authentic, and the connection to the Western European folk music tradition is clearly recognizable.
Some melodies are provided with a second voice or bass accompaniment. For everyone else, the (G) key to success lies in their own creativity. All compositions are rendered in their original key.
How this collection was created:
Goe Vollek, the magazine of the Folk Music Guild of Flanders (Belgium) called on its musicians to send in melodies they had composed themselves. From many pieces sent in, 100 were selected by Herman Dewitt and prepared for printing by Wilfrid Moonen.
