Description
The two heart and soul musicians Johannes Mayr and Christoph Pelgen have now released their new CD after the great success of their first two CDs and numerous performances at home and abroad.
Review by Christoph Egerding-Krüger:
“With the new CD “Joli-Coeur” of the Duo Cassard, the two musicians, Christoph Pelgen and Johannes Mayr present without a doubt their most personal CD. In the 13 pieces of theirs, they once again (after the two previous CDs – Pengobilo and Bukalemun) span a wide range of their diverse musical interests and abilities.
The selected rather traditional pieces (‘Le Chasseur Fatigué’, ‘Louisette’, ‘Trettondagsvisan’, ‘Winter! Du musst Urlaub hân’ and ‘Voici bientôt la saison’) are complemented by original compositions presenting private / biographical (Joli-Coeur, Obersteigerstochter, Till Min Far and Magdalena).
Lively dance music, humor and something to smile about because of the textual ambiguity in the so-called ‘Galanterien’ but also historical references (Auerhahn, Winter! Du musst Urlaub hân).
And then there’s the matter of “Joli Coeur!” which is the title of the CD. On the surface this means something like “nice, beautiful, pretty heart” – under the surface in the second / third connotation then also sounds “coquetry – enthusiasm for an important matter of the heart to me.”
And that it is an important matter of the hearts of the two to share their enthusiasm with the listeners with this music is omnipresent: It is especially noticeable in the selection of the pieces, in the exciting variety of the arrangements, in the multilingual singing, in the joy of playing – in the groove…….
Conclusion: “Un Joli coeur qui demande vraiment la peine d’écouter, de goûter la musique avec grand plaisir.” (A heartfelt request that you simply have to follow, enjoy the music with great pleasure!) ”
