14 two-part movements selected, transposed, arranged and arranged in three suites for playing with Hümmelchen / Dudey and Dulcian or Gemshorn and Hümmelchen / Dudey or other instruments.

Description

Having become aware of the music of the Antwerp organist and carillon master Ioannes de Gruytters through Rolf Janssen’s book, Hermann Rieth has compiled, transposed and arranged a selection of 14 two-part movements in suites suitable for the quiet bagpipes Hümmelchen and Dudey.

The first three suites in this booklet are arranged so that the upper voice can be taken by the soprano chanter of the bagpipes, and Dulcian or Cornamuse would be suitable for the bass voice. The following movements are notated so that the lower voice can be performed with the alto chanter.

All melodies are of course also well suited for other instrumentations, e.g. gem horns, cornamuses, recorders or strings. Given the brevity of the pieces and their simple harmonies, a fanfare-like version with brass is also conceivable.

In the appendix you will find information about the composer, the way of playing and literature references.
