Description
Arrangement for 4 Dudey or Hümmelchen, Viola and Basso Continuo
The current release for the Brensbach Dance and Instrumental Course 2014: The Four Seasons – L’Autunno by Antonio Vivaldi in an arrangement by Eva-Maria Rusche and Marco Ambrosini.
On the occasion of the Brensbach Dance and Instrumental Course 2013, the two instructors had chosen for their group one of the probably best known baroque compositions and published for the first time an arrangement for three bagpipes (Hümmelchen or Dudey in C/F tuning), viola and basso continuo. The interpretation of the first concerto of Vivaldi’s masterpiece – The Spring – was a great pleasure for all participants and so the wish arose to arrange the third concerto for this unusual instrumentation as well.
The viola part can be played by viola da gamba, viola or even a four-rowed key fiddle (nyckelharpa), the continuo part ideally by a harpsichord or other continuo instrument.
Due to the small range of the bagpipes of only one ninth, the authors had to omit some passages in their arrangement for technical and harmonic reasons. However, the ritornello structure and the characteristic affect have been preserved.
In addition to an informative introduction, the booklet contains the score, the respective individual parts, and information about the bagpipes used.
