The Campbell Canntaireachd is a treasure of 168 pieces and one of the largest and oldest sources of pibroch. Here you will find edited publications on pieces from the Campbell Canntaireachd, carefully compiled by the talented Allan MacDonald of Glenuig and Thomas Zöller.
Our goal is to increase the awareness of the Campbell Canntaireachd and introduce you to the world of “Pibroch” or “Ceòl Mòr”. Each issue of our Canntaireachd project is designed with attention to detail:
- You will receive the complete Campbell Canntaireachd, transcribed and edited from the original manuscript, including useful footnotes.
- For a better implementation we offer you the complete notation of the Canntaireachd. Additionally you will find the Canntaireachd as “lyrics” below the sheet music – an invaluable added value!
- Delve into the historical context of each piece so you can learn the true meaning.
- You get a fantastic recording of the Grounds played by Allan MacDonald, as well as the Canntaireachd version sung by Thomas Zöller. This is real music enjoyment!
- As icing on the cake, you will also find the complete Pibroch recording by Allan MacDonald.
Currently we present you the issue 02 – “Salute to Donald”. This contains everything to make your Pibroch heart beat faster: the complete transcribed and edited Canntaireachd, converted into musical notation with the Canntaireachd vocabulary. Add to that the stirring recording of the complete Pibroch, played by Allan MacDonald, and the impressive recording of the Grounds, sung by Thomas Zöller.
