Description

Waxed yellow hemp thread in standard quality for instrument windings. This waxed thread absorbs less moisture and is used by many bagpipe players as the standard winding thread for Great Highland bagpipes, smallpipes and practice chanter.

Waxed Yellow Hemp is ideal for the windings on bagpipe joints as it absorbs less moisture and is therefore less susceptible to swelling or rotting. This ensures a stable and durable connection between the instrument parts, which is particularly important for the correct tuning and airtightness of the bagpipes. Many bagpipe players prefer the waxed thread as it is easier to handle and allows for even winding.

This yellow yarn has been used for many years and belongs in every instrument case! It is also recommended by Max Brumberg for the care and maintenance of Aulos reed instruments.
