27 folk dances to join in (book & 2 CDs) by Gert Dannemann & Elke Rogge

Description

The first volume of this series contains 27 popular group and couple dances from Central and Western Europe, which have been part of the indispensable standard repertoire of the dance scene for many years.

The renouncement to show regional differences of the dance forms and dance steps makes it easy even for the untrained to learn the dances presented here after a short time and to dance along. Therefore, mainly those dances have been selected that do not require very long explanations.

In addition, a classification of the dances into difficulty levels facilitates the selection, which simplifies the use of the book in schools, youth and senior groups.

The book is divided into group dances (circle, lane and row dances) and couple dances. Each dance is introduced with a musical score example. All dances are summarized in the book’s sheet music appendix, some with additional melodies.

The dance instructions are written in simple and understandable language; drawings explain the text. A detailed dance key at the end of the book explains the settings, setups, step types and movements.

The accompanying CDs were recorded by the groups ‘Bordun’, ‘KAIKAI’ and ‘Spielleut’ in the best bal-folk style. All dances are recorded in length and speed to match the dance descriptions.
