Description
New Practice Pipe from Polypenco by RG Hardie, Scotland
The newly introduced Twist Trap Practice Pipe is a mouth blown practice small pipe with a long practice chanter and two drones. The instrument sounds considerably softer and quieter than a Great Highland Bagpipe and is tuned to A (440 Hz.). They are fun to play alone, with several together, or with other instruments.
The Great Highland Bagpipe is an impressive, powerful sounding instrument that is always associated with Scotland. It is played worldwide by solo pipers, military bands and civilian pipe bands. As a physically demanding instrument, it requires a lot of practice to create and hold the high air pressure to get a good sound and stable intonation. This keeps some beginners from taking the step from Practice Chanter to Great Highland Bagpipe.
The Twist Trap Practice Pipe is the perfect transition for beginners: an easy-to-play, mouth-blown bagpipe with a quiet sound and compatible intonation, yet similar in sound to the larger bagpipes.
However, these practice pipes are not only for beginners: Pipers with different previous knowledge will appreciate the sound and the easy handling and the practice sessions will be a lot of fun.
The Practice Pipe comes from Hardie in Glasgow, who now also provide several videos including sheet music: to the product video

With this pipe, an integrated water trap in the blowpipe prevents too much moisture from getting into the instrument. This makes practicing easier and more reliable. The water trap can be easily unscrewed for cleaning under running water and dried again.
The chanter of this pipe can easily be used as a practice chanter: The blowpipe is attached to the chanter as a top. So you have a practice pipe and also a full-fledged, good practice chanter at the same time. This top is also equipped with the Twist-Trap water trap.
