These two intermediate pieces expand the possible drone tunings of our Hümmelchen school models. In this way, drones can be tuned to the optionally available chanters of the school models.

The F-bordun (previously tunable to d, f and c’) and the C-bordun in both school models can be easily retuned to other notes with these intermediate pieces.

This results in the following drone tunings: c’ (as before), g (new), f (as before), low d (as before but much more stable), low c (new) and low A (new).

This means that our Hümmelchen school models now also have a low c-bordun and a g or A-bordun (to match the optionally available chanter).

The deep drones are now also much less sensitive to pressure than before. The built-in drone reed does not have to be changed for retuning! The spacers fit all Hümmelchen school models we built (after 1995). For insertion, only the winding must be adjusted, which we can gladly do for you (also as part of a maintenance of the Hümmelchen).

The intermediate pieces are made of high quality oiled Elsbeere with shellac surface. Visually, they correspond to the previous center section of the standard F-bordune. We supply the spacers with a short instruction.

Instructions for the use of the spacers:

The standard drone parts, i.e. the parts with which the bagpipe is delivered, are designated as follows in this manual:

Upper part of drone (with stopper) = A

drone middle section = B

Lower part of drone (with reed) = C

We mark the new intermediate pieces of the drone extension with turned rings:

Short intermediate piece = with a turned ring: I

Long intermediate piece = with two turned rings: II
