Description
The playing pipe, known as a “punteiro” in Galician, determines the key, intonation, and response of the Gaita Gallega. It can be used as a replacement for an existing playing pipe or to play in an additional key.
Seivane crafts its punteiros in various keys, wood types, and ring designs. The ring caps stabilize areas of the wood that are subject to particular stress and define the appearance of the playing pipe.
Each combination of key, wood type, and decorative rings offered is listed as a separate stock variant. The variant image shows the selected version. The color and grain of the wood may differ from the image.
The whistle comes ready to play with a matching reed and a protective boxwood cap. The spigot is designed to accommodate a Punteiro with a diameter of approximately 18 mm.
This reed is designed for Seivane gaitas. For instruments from other manufacturers, fit, intonation, and compatibility must be verified before ordering.
To change the key completely, you’ll also need the appropriate replacement parts for the bass and tenor borduns.
