Description
The R.G. Hardie Infinity Plastic Pipe Chanter is a modern chanter for the Great Highland Bagpipe, designed for precise tuning, comfortable playability, and a powerful sound. The model was designed in collaboration with multiple gold medalist piper Alastair Dunn and is intended for players seeking a stable and harmonious sound in both band and solo settings.
Thanks to its carefully calibrated bore, the chanter produces a full, resonant tone with clear projection. It is designed to operate reliably within the modern pipe band pitch range of approximately 480–484 Hz, allowing it to harmonize well with current drone setups.
A distinctive feature of this model is that its finger holes are slightly smaller than those on the Omega chanter. This makes the chanter particularly comfortable to hold—an advantage for many pipers who play long sessions or complex embellishments. At the same time, the sound remains powerful and stable.
The chanter was extensively tested with various setups— including both synthetic and leather bags, as well as different reeds. The result is a balanced tone with clean overtones that blends seamlessly with various drone configurations.
Made of durable plastic, the chanter is particularly easy to maintain and resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations. This makes it ideal for rehearsals, performances, and pipe bands that require a reliable and stable pitch.
