This collection in three volumes continues the successful series of ‘Schnurrpfeiffereyen’ and contains dance melodies from the 13th to the 20th century.
The melodies are playable on drone and many other instruments. A large number of the melodies in Volumes I & II were collected at musicians’ meetings in Germany and neighboring countries.
The first volume contains 122 couple dances, dating from the 18th – 20th centuries. They are sorted by dance styles, mostly notated in one voice and mostly in the key of ‘C’.
122 dance tunes from the 13th to the 20th century
This three-volume collection compiled and illustrated by Martina Sirtl is a follow-up to the successful “Schnurrpfeiffereyen” series.
It contains dance tunes from the 13th to the 20th centuries, which can be played on a variety of instruments with or without drones.
Volume 1 contains 122 partnered dances from the 18th to 20th centuries: schottisch, polka, bourrée, waltz, mazurka, round dances, minuet, or march. They are sorted by dance type, usually written in a single part and mostly in C major.
A large number of the tunes in volumes I and II was collected at musicians’ gatherings in Germany and its neighboring countries. Before our publication, many of the dance tunes in these volumes were hardly available in print in Germany.
