Description
Traditional dance music featuring two violins, a contrabass viola, and a double bass: Hermann Fritz, together with Hermann Haertel Jr., Erni Ströbitzer, and Simon Ackermann, performs 22 pieces of folk music as well as his own compositions.
The repertoire includes Ländler, waltzes, polkas, Scottish dances, arias, and a tango. In addition to traditional melodies such as the “Mühlviertler Waltz” and the “Ländler from Jeutendorf,” you’ll hear compositions by Hermann Fritz, including the “U4 Schottisch” and the “Tango in A.” Fritz has arranged numerous traditional pieces for this recording.
The violins lead the melodies, while the contrabass viola and double bass provide the rhythmic foundation. Their ensemble playing is based on ear training and shared performance experience. An informative booklet accompanies the recording.
