Description
100 Melodies for Getting Started in Traditional Music: For “Einfach anfangen,” Simon Wascher has selected pieces that he rates as easy to very easy based on various criteria. This collection offers you a repertoire for lessons and for your own practice.
Many of the pieces come from historical musicians’ manuscripts. In addition, there are melodies from other European sources, including branles, schleifers, schottisches, gallops, and waltzes. Source references accompany the sheet music, to the extent known to the editor.
The melodies are arranged in order of increasing range. Each is notated in two keys: one version with c′ as the lowest note in C or F, and one with g′ as the lowest note in G or C. This allows you to choose the version that’s right for your instrument. Which pieces are best for you to start with also depends on the rhythm, key, and the requirements of your instrument.
An alphabetical index helps you find specific melodies. The selection ranges from “Nonesuch” and “Branle des Lavandiers” to the “Schützenmarsch aus Hall,” among others.
